Another month, another bookboxclub Box, another post showing the full unboxing! Yay! As you might have read in my previous unboxing, what makes Book Box Club so special is that they host a secret members meeting at the end of every month. In this meeting, it’s not just you members– there’s also the author of the month’s featured book! In about an hour, you can ask all your burning questions about the book and get answers FROM THE FRIGGIN’ AUTHOR. If that’s not amazing I don’t know what is. Last month’s meeting was about July’s book The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy (review will be up soon). Let’s take a closer look at what their August box had in store for us, shall we?
So just like last month, I’m going to let the photos do most of the talking. Tagged are all the shops that the gorgeous items are from, please check them out as all these people work very hard to create gorgeous bookish goodies for us!
The first few items featured are Throne of Glass magnetic print exclusively from book box club, “Hermione”candle by MerakiCandles, “Fight Like a Girl” coaster by MunkyMake. And of course some lovely bookish goodies (the cute pins in front)– provided by Simon & Schuster.
All these items made me incredibly happy when I unboxed them. First up, that print!!! Especially because the quote on the print is one of my all time favourites from the series. YAS! Then, in a box themed ‘Fearless Females’, a Hermione related product simply can’t be missing and the fact that I’ve secretly always wanted a Meraki candle makes this even better. Also, I really like pronouncing the word patchouli so this gave me another reason to actually say it all the time, hah. The coaster doesn’t need many words– it’s BAD-ASS.
Then there’s another AMAZING item featuring one of my absolute favourite quotes. I cannot properly express how much I love Crooked Kingdom, so I might have screamed a little when I saw this Girl Gang necklace *wears it instantly*. You can find your own necklace at Compton Four!
Next up is a real treat for all stationery freaks (like me, yes): a GIRL BOSS notebook from Nikki Strange Design. To write down all your notes with a hint of girlpower ;). Seriously check out her designs because they’re all beautiful. You can also spot the secret book club invite scroll on the photo, something that is (as I mentioned above) maybe the most exciting part of the box!
Onto the real gem of the box: August’s featured book! This month, we got Things a Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nichols! I seriously think there couldn’t be a better book to fit the theme. The book is set before the first World War and follow three courageous young women who join the fight for the vote. Read the full description:
Through rallies and marches, in polite drawing rooms and freezing prison cells and the poverty-stricken slums of the East End, three courageous young women join the fight for the vote.
Evelyn is seventeen, and though she is rich and clever, she may never be allowed to follow her older brother to university. Enraged that she is expected to marry her childhood sweetheart rather than be educated, she joins the Suffragettes, and vows to pay the ultimate price for women’s freedom.
May is fifteen, and already sworn to the cause, though she and her fellow Suffragists refuse violence. When she meets Nell, a girl who’s grown up in hardship, she sees a kindred spirit. Together and in love, the two girls start to dream of a world where all kinds of women have their place.
But the fight for freedom will challenge Evelyn, May and Nell more than they ever could believe. As war looms, just how much are they willing to sacrifice?
That was the full unboxing of August’s box! I loved every piece featured and it makes me even more excited to receive the September OUTLAWS box, that will feature two (!!) books, as it’s Book Box Club’s anniversary. September is also my last month as a rep for this wonderful company and even though I secretly wish I could stay a rep forever (seriously) I believe this is a perfect chance for all of you to join! So please, check out @bookboxclub on Instagram for all the details and show Kate and Libby your gorgeous photography skills.
And don’t forget my code BOOKSFEMME5 still works when you order your own box. October’s theme is QUESTS & LEGENDS. <3
