My favourite books of 2018 so far!

Can you believe that we’re already halfway through 2018? Because I certainly can’t. Six months of reading have passed and six months of more reading lie ahead. I’d like to share with you the best books I read since January today. I’ve read a total of 25 books up until now and I decided to give you a top 5 (in order of the date I read them).

RECENSIE: Björnstad door Frederik Backman

Björnstad: 3/5
Auteur: Frederik Backman
Uitgever: Uitgeverij Q

“People say she’s gone mad, because that’s what people who know nothing about loneliness call it.”

Hey allemaal!

The truth about reviewing books for publishers/authors

Hi book lovers. I wanted to talk about something else today. If you’re active on Bookstagram, you will have noticed that I (and a lot of Bookstagrammers with me) receive books for free from publishers and/or authors. In all fairness, I still can’t believe I’m lucky enough to receive books for free and I’m ridiculously grateful for it. But we (including myself) tend to forget that there are some downsides to this and I would like to talk to you about them.

REVIEW: Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Scythe: 4/5
Author: Neal Shusterman
Publisher: Walker Books YA

“Hope in the shadow of fear is the world’s most powerful motivator.”

Hi friends! With all the contemporaries I’ve been reviewing (okay okay, I know that’s just me exaggerating… my last two reviews were contemporary), I thought it was time to talk to you about this Dystopian book I’ve read recently. Oh, you might have heard about it, since it’s been like… EVERYWHERE. I have yet to find someone on Bookstagram that didn’t enjoy Scythe. I’m amongst the many people that thought this book was really, really cool. Curious yet?

REVIEW: Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Katherine Webber

Only Love Can Break Your Heart: 5/5
Author: Katherine Webber
Publisher: Walker Books

Hi guys! The weather is changing into Spring, and changing with it is my preference for books. The sun makes me want to read more lighthearted, contemporary YA so that’s exactly what I was aiming for when I picked up Only Love Can Break Your Heart. Boy, was I wrong about the “lighthearted” part… Whilst it definitely gave me some Spring/Summer feels by being set in the Californian desert, this book ripped out my heart, stomped on it and then revived it with an electric jolt. But I loved every second of it.

A subjective (but obviously definitive) ranking of the Twilight movies

Before we go into this post, you need to understand that I kind of have a weird relationship with Twilight. It’s not love-hate because I don’t hate it. It’s more like… I love it, unconditionally, but I would never defend it because I know (just like Robert Pattinson) that it’s so bad. Every time I watch the movies, I watch them as comedies and literally roast the shit out of them – buuuuut I love them nonetheless. So after recently finishing ANOTHER rewatch of them all, I decided it would be fun to present you with my personal ranking of these films. We’ll be going from best to worst, so strap on your seatbelts and enjoy this vampy ride. Beware: lots of spoilers.
